Recording CDs and DVDs with Nero is simple, thanks to its intuitive menu design.

One of the most popular CD burning programs on the market is Nero Burning ROM. The program offers high-quality disc burning and copying, an easy drag-and-drop menu interface, and special compatibility features and additional programs. Using Nero to record a disc is straightforward and only requires you to know what type of disc you want to record. Whether it be a music CD or just a backup of data, it is easy to record with Nero.

Instructions

  1. Burning an Audio CD

      Open Nero Burning ROM.

      Click "File" and then "New Compilation."

      Select the "Audio CD" project template on the left side of the window.

      Press the "New" button.

      Find the songs you wish to put on your audio CD. Nero can recognize many different audio formats, including WAV and MP3.

      Insert a blank CD-R into your CD recordable drive.

      Press the "Burn" button, which has an icon of a match held to a CD. A window will appear with all of the burn settings. Adjust the settings according to your preferences.

      Press the "Burn" button and wait for Nero to record the CD. This might take a while, depending on the burning speed of your drive and CD-R media.

      Press the "Done" button after Nero finishes burning to eject your CD.

    Recording a Data Disc with Nero

      Open Nero Burning ROM.

      Click "File" and then "New Compilation."

      Select the "CD-ROM (ISO)" template on the left side of the window. This template will allow you to save any kind of computer file on your CD-R disc, much like how you save files on a hard drive or thumb drive.

      Press the "New" button.

      Drag and drop any data files you wish to burn to your CD-R disc.

      Insert a blank CD-R into your CD recordable drive.

      Press the "Burn" button, which has an icon of a match held to a CD. A window will appear with all of the burn settings. You can adjust these settings to fit your CD project needs.

      Press the "Burn" button and wait for Nero to record the CD. This might take a while, depending on the burning speed of your drive and CD-R media.

Tips & Warnings

  • Nero Burning ROM also allows DVD-video recording, but only if you already have the video in the DVD file format. Nero also offers a program called Nero Vision, which can convert raw video files to play on standard DVD players (see Resources).
