How to Make a Word Scramble Game
Word scramble games allow learners of all ages to review spelling and new vocabulary words they have just acquired. A word scramble game consists of a list of words with rearranged letters. You use cognitive skills to figure out what the word is by placing letters in their correct order. Develop a word scramble game relevant to what players are currently learning and that is suitable to their skill level. Encourage them to prepare their own game once they have mastered your word scramble.

1
Write a list of words you would like to review with your students, child or study partner. You can create a list based on new spelling words, words that begin with the same letter or a category of keywords that were introduced as part of a new educational topic. Create a short list of approximately five words for early learners, and a list of up to 20 words for older students.

2
Create a rough draft for the word scramble game. Scramble each word, but be sure not to rearrange letters in the same fashion for every single word. You can use Scrabble tiles to help you scramble the words. Spell out the words correctly using the tiles, then physically mix them up. Write down the scrambled version of each word on a scrap piece of paper. Number each rearranged word and write the correct answers on a separate piece of paper. Alternatively, you can use an online word scramble generator to mix up the words for you.

3
Write down a hint next to each scrambled word. For example, if one of the words is "float," you can write "the opposite of sink" as a clue; if one word is "blue," write "the color of the sky" as a hint.

4
Type the scrambled words and their hints into a new document on your word processing program. Save the document and print the appropriate amount of copies. Give your child or students a copy of the word scramble game. You can also give them Scrabble tiles to help them rearrange the letters into their correct order.
