How to Write Protect an Xd Card

xD memory is a flash memory card developed by Olympus and Fuji that is used exclusively by those brands. While it doesn't have the storage capacity of SD or CompactFlash memory, xD is convenient for its small size, being the smallest type of memory card on the market. If you want to lock the images on the card, you can do it globally via the card or on your computer by viewing the images.

Instructions

1. Look for a write protect switch on the back left side of the camera. Not all xD cards have this feature, but if yours does, you can flick the switch to lock the card from being written on or formatted.

2. Connect the camera to your computer with a USB cord and open your picture viewer.

3. Right click on the image you want to write protect with your mouse and select "Properties."

4. Select "Read only" from the options and click "OK."
