How to Make Sachet Packs
Sachets are small bags filled with pleasant-smelling ingredients. Some ingredients, like lavender, are calming and others, such as rosemary, keep bugs away, according to Janice Cox, the author of "Natural Beauty at Home." Fill small fabric bags, or tea bags, with fragrant herb mixtures. Use them yourself in closets and drawers. Put them in the bathtub as you fill it with hot water. Assemble a few of them in sachet packs and give them as gifts. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hang the lavender and rosemary in bunches upside down to dry. Fasten the bunches with rubber bands.
-
2
Cut the peel off the lemons in long strips with a very sharp knife. Cut the strips into smaller strips that are no more than 1 inch long and 1/4-inch wide. Spread on a cookie sheet covered with paper towels. Place in an oven turned on to the lowest setting. Peel should be dry within six to eight hours.

3
Break off the lavender blossoms and remove the leaves from the rosemary stems by running your thumb and forefinger along the stems.
-
4
Mix 1 cup each of lavender, rosemary, and lemon peel in a bowl.
-
5
Add a few drops at a time of each essential oil. Mix well with the dried herbs. Continue adding the oil and mixing after each dose until you've used 1/2 tsp of each oil.
-
6
Scoop a tablespoon of the herb mixture from the bottom of the bowl into an empty tea bag. Scooping from the bottom makes sure you remix as you fill. Set the bag upright in shoe box or plastic food storage box.
-
7
Turn the iron on low. Wait a few minutes to heat. Seal the tea bags by ironing them shut.
-
8
Open the cellophane bag and pack in six sachets. Tie it closed with a decorative ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
Tuck the herbs into a drawstring bag instead of the tea bags if you prefer.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling essential oils. They can irritate eyes.
