How to Restore an HP Pavilion DV6000
There are several reasons that someone may want to restore an HP Pavilion DV6000 to factory fresh condition. It is a good idea to do so before selling a laptop or after purchasing one from somebody so that it can be configured with new personal settings and any confidential data erased. It also helps to speed up an HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop that has been running slowly and can solve problems caused by corrupted files or virus infections. Upgrading the hard drive will usually require a fresh operating system install or system restore as well.

Tips & Warnings
Windows update takes several attempts to update most computers completely because many updates do not become available until other updates are already installed. Some updates must be installed by themselves and will require other updates after they install as well. Repeat the update procedure until no more new updates show up after checking for updates. If prompted, allow automatic update to install on a schedule. System restore disks for the HP Pavilion DV6000 are available from the HP website for a small fee.
System restore will completely erase any files on the hard drive, including software, data files, photos, music, settings, drivers, and email. Back up any files prior to beginning the restore procedure. Many laptops require the specific system restore disk that was created for that model laptop and do not respond well to other forms of operating system installation.
