1
Start the process of coloring your hair with clean dry hair. For the best results you should avoid shampooing your hair for 24 hours before you start to color.
-
2
Put on an old T-shirt in case of possible staining from the hair dye. Place the gloves enclosed in the hair color box on your hands to protect them from the dark dyes as well. Read over the directions entirely to ensure you are informed of the proper techniques of coloring your own hair at home.

3
Mix the color solution with the color activator to create the color mixture you will be applying to your head of hair.
-
4
Begin at your roots and work the brown hair color throughout your hair evenly all the way to the tips. If this is the first time you are coloring your hair, you will want to fully saturate your hair. If this is a touch-up to a previous coloring, then you should focus on the roots, and only run the color through your ends the last 10 minutes of your coloring time.
-
5
Follow the directions when it comes to how long you should leave the color on your hair before rinsing.
-
6
After the time to wait for the color to set has passed, rinse the color out of your hair until the water runs clear. Follow with a deep conditioner to seal in the color and to add moisture to your strands.
