How to Enable FrontPage Extensions IIS 6

The Internet Information Services (IIS) package of modules and services allows nearly any Windows-based computer to operate as a Web server. In the interest of security, version 6 of IIS only serves static content by default. If you want to use dynamic features such as Active Server Pages, Server Side Includes, WebDAV or FrontPage Server Extensions, you must manually enable this functionality using the IIS Manager utility. Fortunately, the process only requires a few clicks once you know where to find the proper command.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button, select "Administrative Tools" and then click "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager."

    • 2

Select the "Web Service Extensions" folder on the left side of the window.

    • 3

Select the "Extended" tab located near the bottom of the window.

    • 4

Select the "FrontPage Server Extensions" item on the right side of the window.

    • 5

      Click the adjacent "Allow" button.
