The computer desktop background is part of the Windows theme.

Logging onto a Windows computer brings up the desktop background, sound scheme and screensaver, which make up the Windows theme. You can edit the default Windows theme to create a personalized theme. Some themes can slow down the computer, while others can improve the readability of desktop icons. Windows users can change themes or edit aspects of the theme at any time.
