“Stronghold: Crusader” is a real-time strategy game that is set in the Middle East during the Crusades. Players build and maintain a castle. The player must maintain a military force to defend his castle and attack enemies. The game supports multiplayer through the Internet. The standard method of connection requires using the Gamespy Arcade service. It is also possible to directly connect two PCs to one another using DirectPlay option.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click “Multiplayer” in the main menu on the “host” computer. The host computer will be the computer that is actually running the “Stronghold: Crusader” game. The other computer will connect to the host’s game.

      Click “Internet TCP/IP Connection For DirectPlay” in the multiplayer menu. The IP address for the computer will be shown on the screen. This is necessary to connect the two PCs.

      Click the “Done” button to go to the multiplayer options screen.

      Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 for the computer that will join the host computer’s “Stronghold: Crusader” DirectPlay game.

      Enter the IP address from the host computer into the prompt.

      Click the “Done” button to go to the multiplayer options screen.

      Click the “Ready” button in the multiplayer options screen on both PCs to start the “Stronghold: Crusader” game.

  • The same steps used to connect two PCs to play “Stronghold: Crusader” with DirectPlay can also be used for “Stronghold: Crusader Extreme.”
