How to Repaint Cookie Jars
Cookie jars are both functional and decorative accents for the kitchen. Over time, a cookie jar can become chipped or the colors may fade in the sunlight. You can easily fill in chips and repaint a cookie jar with a few supplies.

1
Set the cookie jar on some newspaper on a flat surface. Examine the cookie jar for chips or cracks. You will need to fill them in before repainting the jar so it has an even surface.
-
2
Pour out a teaspoon of the polyester resin filler onto a plate. The filler comes with a tube of hardener that makes the resin set. Squeeze a pea-sized amount into the filler and mix it with a popsicle stick.

3
Use the popsicle stick to smooth the filler into the cracks or chipped spots on the cookie jar. Let it dry for two hours.
-
4
Use fine-grit sandpaper to sand down the filler so it lies flat with the surface of the cookie jar. Wipe down the whole jar with a damp cloth and let it air-dry.
-
5
Squeeze acrylic paint onto a clean plate. Dip the paintbrush into the paint and apply it to the cookie jar.
-
6
Spray the entire jar with a clear acrylic spray paint to add a protective coating. Let it dry overnight before adding cookies to the jar.
