How to Make Homemade Christmas Pins

One way to get into the Christmas spirit is to sport accessories based upon two of the holiday's most recognizable figures: the Christmas angel and a snowman. Assembling your own homemade Christmas pins is not only a way to show your affection for the holiday season, it is also a gift idea to give out to friends and family members. These pins can be made in the comfort of your warm home for a fraction of the price of their storebought counterparts.

    1. Christmas Angel Pin

      • 1

Mix one tablespoon white craft glue with 1/4 teaspoon water.

      • 2

Paint two medium-sized white foam hearts, which can be purchased at craft stores, with the glue mixture.

      • 3

Sprinkle glitter over the hearts. Tap off any excess glitter and allow the hearts to dry.

      • 4

Using a small paint brush, lightly paint two small pink circles onto the white foam circle. These will be the angel's cheeks.

      • 5

Draw a pair of eyes, eyelashes and a mouth onto the white foam circle with a fine felt-tipped marker.

      • 6

Turn a larger-sized white foam heart upside down. Hot glue the two small hearts to the back of the larger heart. The smaller hearts will act as the angel's wings, while the larger heart will be the body.

      • 7

Create a halo by bending the top two-thirds of a gold pipe cleaner into a circle. Keep the bottom third straight.

      • 8

Attach the angel's head to front of the pointed end of the large foam heart with hot glue.

      • 9

Attach the halo to the back of the angel's head with hot glue.

      • 10

Paint the exposed area of the angel's body with the watered down white glue. Sprinkle gold glitter over the angel's body. Tap off any excess glitter and allow the angel to completely dry.

      • 11

Turn the angel over and attach a pin back with hot glue. Allow the pin back to dry.

      Snowman Pin

      • 1

Lay two medium-sized white buttons face down onto a flat surface.

      • 2

Place one button directly above the other so that the two buttons are touching. The top pin should be placed so the two holes are horizontal, which resembles the snowman's eyes. The bottom button should be placed so the two holes are vertical, to resemble the snowman's buttons.

      • 3

Hot glue a pin backing to the two buttons. The pin backing should be glued vertically to both buttons. This will secure the buttons to the pin back and each other.

      • 4

Cut out a small top hat shape from a piece of black felt.

      • 5

Turn the snowman pin over and hot glue the felt hat to the top of the snowman's head. Tie a two inch piece of thin ribbon around the snowman's neck, which is the area between the two buttons. This will act as the snowman's scarf.
