The Wella Color Charm collection consists of two types of products: permanent hair color and demi-permanent hair color, both featuring a wide palette of shades. Both products are long-lasting and deliver brilliant color results by covering grays and being true to tone. The Color Charm collection is easy to use and easy to re-touch. The demi-permanent collection is ammonia-proof yet adds richness to existing hair color or freshens hair with a new color. The directions for both hair color collections are similar.

Choose a shade of Wella Color Charm that is about two shades lighter or darker than your natural hair color, unless planning on making a drastic color change. Look for the shade colors on the box showing how it will look when combined with your natural hair color. Determine whether you want a permanent, long-term dye, or a demi-permanent color which will fade over time.

Comb hair gently to smooth it out and get rid of knots. This will help distribute the hair color evenly.

Mix the entire 1 oz. tube of the Hair Color with the 2 oz. bottle of Creme or Clear Developer in a non-metal bowl. Put on the enclosed plastic gloves and mix the Color Charm formulas using your hands, a non-metal spoon or an applicator brush (used for applying highlights.) For shorter hair, you may need only half the application, but for very long hair, two packages of Wella Color Charm may be needed. Always remember that the ratio of Hair Color to Creme or Clear Developer is 1:2. Alternatively, you can squeeze the entire tube of hair color into the bottle of developer and shake.

Test an area of hair before applying Wella Color Charm all over hair. Apply hair color using a small highlight brush, your hands, or the tip of the applicator bottle if you kept the mixture in the bottle, to a strand of hair and wrap in aluminum foil. Wait 15-30 minutes to reveal the color. This step is optional but recommended if using Wella Color Charm for the first time. Continue using Wella Color Charm if color is accurate and as desired.

Apply the color all over hair immediately and check the time. For highlights, apply the color on chosen strands of hair and cover with aluminum foil to avoid getting it on other hair strands. Use a highlight applicator brush to make this process easier. For lighter color, apply the hair color mixture to the hair, starting one inch away from the scalp. Part hair into 1/4 inch strands and apply color evenly to each strand. After 15 minutes, apply to the hair at the scalp and wait another 15-30 minutes until color is even all over. For darker color, apply mixture from roots to ends. Then, use a comb to ensure even distribution of color by coming through strands and allow color to develop for 30-45 minutes.

Set a timer or check the time occasionally to monitor the hair color developing time. Check on the color from time to time until the desired effect is achieved.

Massage warm water into hair and rinse thoroughly once the hair coloring is complete. Gently wash hair with shampoo and rinse. Apply a conditioner and rinse after a few minutes.

Dry and style hair as you normally would.

Tip

Check for the color while it is developing from time to time until ideal color is achieved. Use Wella Color Charm at least two weeks after having colored hair previously at home or at a salon. Do not brush hair right before coloring it.

Warning

Do not exceed the recommended hair color processing time. Avoid getting the hair color into your eyes or mouth. Keep the product away from children.
