How to Create a Green Man Costume

You'll look like a worthy consort of Mother Nature in this leafy costume.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Green Masks
• RIT Dyes
• Green Heavy-duty Threads
• Superglue
• Superglue
• Green Face Paints

1. Cut all the leaves off of a garland using heavy-duty scissors.

2. Hand sew leaves in a random pattern onto the front, back and hood of a green hooded sweatshirt.

3. Turn the cuffs of the sleeves up and then sew the stems to the inside so that leaves will stick out from under your sleeves.

4. Cover your mask with leaves using superglue so that only the eyeholes show. Make sure the edges of the leaves extend past the edge of the mask, creating a natural leafy shape. You'll need to hold each leaf in place while the glue dries.

5. Get dressed in your green clothes, putting your sweatshirt on last.

6. Paint your face green and put your mask on.

7. Pull the hood of your sweatshirt up so that it covers all your hair and the string from the mask.

Tips & Warnings

• If you can't find green clothing, you can use light-colored clothes and dye them the appropriate shade with kelly green Rit dye #32.
• Make sure you give your leaf mask plenty of time to dry. If you put it on before all the superglue has dried, the fumes will sting your eyes.
• To complete the look, spray paint an old pair of shoes green to match.
• Make sure to buy superglue that doesn't stick to skin (check the packaging). Otherwise, you may end up with leaves glued to your hands as well as to your mask.
• If you use a dark color of Rit dye to color your clothing, make sure you wash the article in warm water before wearing it. After you're finished dyeing the article, you need to clean your washing machine thoroughly. Run it empty on the largest hot cycle and add detergent and 1 cup bleach.
