How to Do Blush Makeupthumbnail
A blush brush is used for powder applications.

If you want to add color to your cheeks and give your skin a healthy glow, apply a generous swipe of blush to your face. Blush formulations are available in cream, liquid and powder forms, which all allow you to mimic the natural flush of your cheeks, once you select the right shade. Apply blush to the face after an application of moisturizer and foundation.

Choose the right color for your skin tone. There are three basic shades of blush: pink, soft brown, and peach. Women with cool undertones should wear pink; peach is perfect for warm undertones; while those women with warm and cool tones should try applying a soft shade of brown to their cheeks.

Select the proper tools to apply the blush to your cheeks. If using a liquid or cream blush, apply it with your fingers or a sponge. Use a blush brush to add a blush powder.

Smile in the mirror to determine where the apples of your cheeks appear.

Add a swipe of cream or liquid blush after applying foundation. Using a sponge or your fingers, dot a small drop of the product on the apples of your cheeks. Blend back toward your ears using your fingers.

Apply powder brush to your cheekbone area with a blush brush. Dip the blush brush into the powder and shake off the excess product. Starting at your ear, gently sweep the color toward the apples of your cheeks, then back toward the ears again.

Blot a tissue over the top of your cheeks to remove excess blush powder. If your cheek color is too intense, soften the blush with a dusting of loose powder.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Apply the blush in natural light to prevent adding too much product to your face.

    • Cream brush brings additional moisture to your skin, while blush powders highlight aging skin by bringing attention to dry patches and wrinkles.
