How to Install an Internal Laptop DVD Burner

A DVD burner is a device capable of playing and burning information to DVDs. Manually installing a DVD burner into your laptop may void your warranty. You should contact your laptop's manufacturer before attempting this operation. Installing a DVD burner will require a screwdriver and a compatible burner.

      Turn off your laptop and remove the power cord and battery. Touch a metal product to ground yourself.

      Turn over your laptop and locate the CD/DVD ROM chamber. It will be labeled on the bottom of your laptop.

      Remove the screw that secures the cover of your CD/DVD player. In some cases, you may have to remove a plate protecting the player.

      Connect the data and power cables to your new DVD burner.

      Slide the DVD burner into its chamber. If necessary, replace the plate over the chamber.

      Secure the DVD burner using the screw that comes with the device.

      Replace the DVD cover and your laptop's battery and power cable.
