How to Update Your Samsung Instinct

Cell phones use software that requires updates to operate efficiently.

Your Samsung Instinct requires consistent updates to keep the phone running smoothly. Cell phones, like computers, use software that allows you to interact with your contacts, music and games. Updating the software requires that you download new software releases and install them to your phone. Downloading and installing the software does not affect your contacts or any other software installations. You can also update your Instinct's data profile should you change your account. To update your Samsung Instinct, you need to download the preferred roaming list (PRL) and update your data profile and software. You should have an active account established and an Internet connection.

Instructions

Update the Samsung Instinct Software

1. Tap the "Home" icon on the outside of the phone.

2. Tap the "Main" icon on the screen.

3. Tap "Settings," then "General."

4. Tap "Update Software." Your Samsung Instinct checks for software updates and completes the download and installation.

Update Samsung Instinct Preferred Roaming List

1. Tap the "Home" icon on the outside of the phone.

2. Tap the "Main" icon on the screen.

3. Tap "Settings," then "General."

4. Tap "Update PRL." Your Samsung Instinct will check for any updates and complete the download and installation, if required.

Update Samsung Instinct Data Profile

1. Tap the "Home" icon on the outside of the phone.

2. Tap the "Main" icon on the screen.

3. Tap "Settings," then "General."

4. Tap "Update Data Profile." Your Samsung Instinct checks your account for changes and updates, if necessary.
