How to Copy Phone Contacts to a SIM Card

A SIM card is an interchangeable plastic card in your mobile phone that stores information, including the subscriber information, network information and phone contacts. Having your phone contacts on your SIM card allows you to quickly switch the contacts from one phone to another by switching the SIM card. Most mobile phones offer a feature to copy your contacts to your SIM card through the address book screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your mobile phone’s address book.

    • 2

Highlight the contact entry you want to copy to your SIM card.

    • 3

Press the Menu key. Click “Copy to SIM Card.”

Tips & Warnings

  • Some mobile phones offer a feature to copy all of your phone’s contacts to SIM. If your phone does, you can hit the Menu key while viewing the address book. Then, click “Copy All to SIM” to transfer the entire phone book.

  • This procedure may vary drastically depending on the model of mobile phone you are using. Consult your user manual if you have trouble copying contacts from the phone’s memory to the SIM card. If you still have trouble, your mobile service provider’s technical support team can help.
