How to Edit an Outlook Calendar
The Microsoft Office Suite includes features to schedule and track your time through Outlook, an email and calendar program. When Outlook is installed, it comes with a standard look for the calendar, but gives you control over its appearance. You can edit the Outlook calendar's appearance and functionality to better keep track of your schedule.
Instructions

1
Open Microsoft Outlook. Click the "Calendar" link at the bottom of the column on the left side of the screen. The default view is from 8am to 8pm on the current day, such as Thursday, September 9, 2010.
-
2
Double-click a line on the calendar, such as 5:00pm, to open the "Appointment" window. Type the desired calendar note into the "Subject" line, such as "Dentist cleaning." The start and end time automatically default to the time and day you clicked on the calendar, but you can edit them by using the drop-down menus to set appointments in advance.
-
-
3
Type a location into the "Location" field, such as the appointment address and phone number.
-
4
Click the "Categorize" button, which looks like four colored blocks, and click one of the colored categories. This will help an appointment stand out from the white of the calendar background.
-
5
Click the "Save & Close" button to return to the single-day calendar view with the new appointment.
-
6
Click the small arrow in the corner of the "Arrange" section of the toolbar at the top of the page to bring up calendar edit options. Change the way the calendar appears, such as Monday to Sunday instead of Sunday to Saturday, by pulling down the "First day of the week" menu and selecting a new option.
-
7
Click the small colored pie chart next to "Default calendar color" and select a color for the calendar background instead of the default white.
-
8
Click the "Font" button to choose a new font for the calendar to display with appointments and holidays.
-
9
Click the "OK" button when satisfied with the changes to close the "Outlook Options" window and view the edited calendar.
-
10
Click the "Week" or "Month" buttons on the "Arrange" section of the toolbar at the top of the page to switch from the daily view to a longer timeframe. Clicking the "Month" button shows you the entire month at a glance.
