It is possible to create HTML emails on the Mac operating system.

Apple's Mail program is an email client that is included free with the MAC OS X operating system. It can be used to send and receive email from both POP and IMAP external email accounts, such as Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. Unlike some email clients, Mail does not have the built-in capability to create HTML emails. However, using the Safari Web browser (also included in OS X), an HTML or text editor and the Mail program, you can create HTML email on a Mac OS X.

Instructions

    • 1

Create the HTML email in an HTML or text editor. Save the HTML email as a .HTML file.

    • 2

Open the Safari Web browser. Click "File," then select "Open File" from the drop-down list. Click "Browse" and navigate to the HTML email file and double-click it. The file will open as an HTML page in Safari.

    • 3

Click "File," then select "Mail contents of this page" from the drop-down menu. The HTML email will open inside the Apple Mail application. The formatting of the email may look different when it is loaded into Mail, but it will revert to its original formatting once it is sent.

    • 4

Type the recipient's email address in the "To:" field, then type a short message in the "Subject:" field and click the "Send" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you are creating the HTML email, avoid using CSS, complex layouts, frames or any other complicated code to ensure the HTML will be compatible with Apple's Mail program.
