How to Make a Picture Blog
Whether you're an experienced photographer or an amateur who just picked up your first digital SLR, one of the most professional ways to showcase your work for a wide audience is by creating a picture blog. If you are new to blogging and website creation, it's probably best to start with a free web host to make your picture blog. If you have blogged or run a website in the past and want more control over your photo blog, you can download software to help you create your blog on your own host.

Register for a free blog at WordPress, Blogger, Photoblog or Photoposts. If you are unsure of which to choose, browse through a few of their users' existing blogs, as each host has different templates and designs. Some will allow lots of room for text, while others focus only on the pictures. Create a user name, password, subdomain name, blog title and enter your email address for registration.

Log in to your new blog. Click "New Post," then click the picture upload link. Select your photo from your computer and click "Select." While you can edit the dimensional size of your picture within the blog, be sure the pixel size is what you want before you upload the picture.

Add a title, caption, and tags to your picture. The tags will be displayed in your toolbar, and should be words that describe your picture, such as "baseball," "beach," or "Denver." Create a few categories in the Categories column, which will also be displayed in your toolbar, and assign your picture to at least one category. These categories are what viewers will use to find specific photos you have taken.

Download photo software for blogs, such as PixelPost or ZenPhoto. Open the file and click "Begin Installation." Click through the steps and read carefully to be sure your computer settings meet the requirements of the software.

Enter the database information into the software settings when they appear. This will be the name of your host, your username and password. Click to the next step and enter your administrator information, which will also include a username and password, as well as a contact email address. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

Log in to your picture website or blog that you connected to the software in Step 2. Click "New Post," then click the picture upload link. Select your photo from your computer and click "Select." Add a title, caption, and tags to your picture. Create a few categories in the Categories column, which will also be displayed in your toolbar, and assign your picture to at least one category.
