How to Paint a Lion's Nose on a Toddler

How to Paint a Lion's Nose on a Toddler thumbnail
Face paintng can be simple or elaborate.

Whether it's a small butterfly on her cheek or a full lion's face, most kids enjoy having their face painted. So will your toddler. The tricky part will be getting him to sit still while you paint. You can reduce this time by painting only a small section of the lion's face, such as the nose, and adding some whiskers. This will give the appearance of a lion's face and keep the smearing to a minimum, if he's prone to touching his face.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your child's face. Gather brushes and paint together in clean work area.

    • 2

Dip the brush into black paint. Wipe off excess. Paint a line from the center of his top lip up toward the middle of his nose.

    • 3

Dip the brush back into black paint. Paint tip of his nose, including the nostrils and the bump of the nose between them.

    • 4

Draw short straight lines upward from the smile lines to create whiskers. Dot the area between the nose and the mouth.

    • 5

Clean brush by rinsing it in water. Store away for future use.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use water-based face paint as it washes off easily. Get face paint at your local theater supply store.

  • Do not use craft, acrylic or tempera paint to paint your child's face. They're not made for the skin.
