How to Repair Gortex
Given the rough and tumble activities in which the average Gore-Tex wearer is likely to participate, it is not surprising that occasionally a Gore-Tex garment might sustain a rip or other damage. These damages compromise the waterproof and insulating properties for which Gore-Tex is valued. To have the damage permanently repaired you will need to take your garment to an authorized Gore-Tex dealer. There are solutions available to temporarily repair the garment and preserve its function until you can have it repaired. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Select a patch for the outer shell of the garment from the Gore-Tex Repair Kit. According to Gore-Tex, each repair kit comes with two outer patches in different sizes so that you'll be sure to have one that fits the hole without having to trim it.
-
2
Wipe away any dirt or debris from where you'll be applying the patch, as it will stay fixed on clean material better than on dirty material.
-
-
3
Peel the backing off the patch, and place it over the rip or hole in the outer garment. Press down firmly.
-
4
Place a clean towel over the patch, and iron it onto the outer garment using the steam settings on your iron. Allow it to cool.
-
5
Select a patch for the inner layer of the garment to preserve the waterproof/weatherproof function. Each Gore-Tex repair kit similarly has two patches for the inside of the garment in addition to the outer patches. Pick the patch that will best fix the rip or hole, and repeat Steps 1 through 4.
