Making the Chair
-
1
Mark the wood piece that will be placed at the back of your chair with a rectangle measuring 2-by-5 ¼ inches. Center your rectangle 11 inches from the bottom of the board.
-
2
Get the second plank and mark it 11 inches from the board’s top with a straight line. Measure 3.5 inches from each of the plank’s sides on your marked line. Draw a straight line from this spot to the bottom of your board. This will be your chair’s seat.

3
Cut a marked rectangle out of your first board using your jigsaw and drill pilot holes in the rectangle’s four corners. Cut on its marked lines with the jigsaw as you work your way from one pilot hole before moving to the next. This will be the exact opening where you will place the chair’s bottom half.
-
4
Create your seat and the plank chair’s back leg with your circular saw. Cut the second board from the bottom to its marked line that's found 11 inches from its top. Use the circular saw to cut along your marked line. You should be left with a complete piece that has a 12-by-11-inch seat as well as a back leg measuring 5 inches. It should be T-shaped.
-
5
To remove rough areas and provide a smooth finish, sand both pieces of your chair using sandpaper.
-
6
Attach the two skateboards by placing them at the center--the designed sides up--and horizontally across your chair’s back. Drill four pilot holes following a square pattern through your first skateboard and plank. Use wood screws to attach your skateboard to the plank. Repeat the same process with your second skateboard and attach it below the first skateboard.
-
7
Assemble your chair by holding its back with the skateboards facing you. Insert your chair’s leg through its rectangular hole until your seat fits firmly against your chair’s back.
