How to Recover Deleted DVD Files
Accidentally deleting a file is a common mistake in using computers. A deleted DVD file, even one emptied from the recycle bin, can still be on a computer, but retrieving the file requires a bit of luck. According to Lifehacker.com, files are erased from the hard drive when you select to delete, but the area is marked with a tag that notifies the computer it is okay to overwrite this part of the hard drive.

1
Stop working on the computer. Anytime your computer writes data onto the hard drive from the time the file has been deleted a chance exists that the data has been lost forever.
-
2
Check the "Recycle Bin." All deleted files are sent to the recycle bin, so unless you've already emptied the recycle bin, the file should be in there.

3
Download or purchase a free recovery tool. Free, user-friendly programs for Windows are plentiful, such as Uneraser, PC Inspector File Recovery and Restoration (see Resources). According to Lifehacker.com, a $99 program called Data Rescue II is the only program available for the Apple operating system.
