How to Troubleshoot the Lexmark E250D

The Lexmark E250D prints black-and-white documents using laser print technology. The printer's ink comes in a powder form, housed in the print cartridge assembly. The printer charges paper with a positive electrical charge, attracting the toner to specific spots on the page. The printer then applies heat and pressure to the paper, fusing the toner to the page. Before having a professional service the printer, troubleshoot the situation using steps recommended by Lexmark.

Instructions

  1. Removing Paper Jams

    • 1

Pull the paper drawer at the bottom of the printer completely out of the printer. Remove all loose paper inside the drawer as well as the printer's output bin and set it aside.

    • 2

Press down on the green flap inside the paper drawer's open slot. Continue to hold down the flap as you pull out any stuck paper.

    • 3

Open the printer's front door by pressing on the button at the upper left corner. Remove the print cartridge, then pull up on the green flap and pull out any stuck paper behind it.

    • 4

Open the printer's back door and pull out any stuck pieces of paper. Replace the print cartridge and paper drawer.

    • 5

Close the printer's front and rear doors. Press the "Continue" button on the control panel to resume printing.

    White Vertical Lines in Printouts

    • 6

Clean the print lens inside the printer. Press the power switch to turn the printer off after your print job has completed.

    • 7

Press the button on the upper left corner of the printer's front cover to open the cover. Remove the toner cartridge and set it aside.

    • 8

Find the glass lens behind where the print cartridge sat in the machine. Wipe it with a clean microfiber cloth to remove any dust or other contaminates.

    • 9

Reinstall the print cartridge and close the front door. Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

    • 10

Install a new toner cartridge if you continue to see lines in the printouts. If the problem continues after you install a new toner cartridge, take the printer to a repair shop for servicing.
