Sony DVD players are equipped with three output jacks for connecting to a television. Each jack is coded yellow, white or red to designate the video output and two stereo outputs, which match the colors on a set of composite AV cables. Plugging in the cables takes under a minute.       Turn off the power to the Sony player and the TV.

      Insert the three plugs on one end of the AV cable into the matching output jacks on the upper right side of the Sony DVD player's rear panel.

      Connect each plug on the other end of the cable to the AV inputs on the back of the TV, which may be labeled "Composite In," for example.

      Turn on the Sony player and television.

    • 5

      Press the source button on the TV remote until the blue Sony screen appears on the television.
