You can design cookbook pages online.

Putting together a cookbook for a charity is an easy and inexpensive idea that almost anyone can handle. You can design cookbook pages online by inputting some beloved recipes into ready-made templates and then printing out and binding the pages. These cookbooks can be sold at a charitable fair or party and adapted to fit whatever type of organization you're working with, like Christmas recipes for a church or kosher recipes for a synagogue.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit a template design website--such as hp.com or office.microsoft.com--that has free cookbook templates you can work with. Browse the template selections, and choose the one you like best.

    • 2

Type your collection of recipes into the template, adding recipe titles, ingredients and directions for each item you want to feature in the cookbook. You can use your personal recipes or collect recipes from other people involved in the charity. Save the project to your computer.

    • 3

Create a cover for your cookbook using a basic typing/composition program. Add a title for your cookbook, and insert a colorful image, such as photograph or free online clip art. Make sure to include the name of the charity on the cover.

    • 4

Print the recipe pages and the cover on your home printer. Print as many copies as you need for the number of cookbooks you'll be making. You can also send the project to be printed and bound by a professional printing company. However, printing the cookbook yourself will be less expensive and will allow the charity to make more money.

    • 5

Insert each recipe page into a plastic protective sheet with three holes punched on the left side. These sheets can be found at most office supply stores and will protect the pages. Insert the protected pages into a three-ring binder.

    • 6

Place the cover page inside the front plastic cover of the binder so it shows through.

Tips & Warnings

  • Divide recipes into sections, like appetizers, entrees and desserts.

  • Make sure to proofread the recipes before printing to catch any spelling errors.
