How to Hook Up a Car Amp to a Socket

Hooking up a car amp to your home stereo can give your home stereo a lot more power than the stock amp that is inside your home stereo receiver. The only special component you will need to complete this is the power connector cable you can buy at any electronics store.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the speakers and remote lead wire from the amp. Disconnecting the wires will ensure that the amp and speaker don't blow when you are connecting the socket adapter.

    • 2

Cut the amp power cord using the wire cutters and strip a 1/4-inch of cover off of the wire's tip using the wire strippers. Twist the exposed wire tip until it is tight.

    • 3

Loosen the screw on the side of the socket connector using the screwdriver. Insert the tip of the amplifier's power cord into the connector and tighten the screw using the screwdriver. Plug the socket adapter into the wall socket.
