Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 oz. cognac into a tulip-shaped wineglass. Using the proper drinking glass for cognac helps maintain the flavor and aroma.

    • 2

Slide the stem of the wine glass between the index and middle fingers so the base of the glass is resting in the palm of the hand. Hold the glass in the palm of the hand for about 10 minutes so the heat from the hand transfers to the glass and slowly warms the cognac.

    • 3

Smell the cognac to enjoy the fruity or floral montant, or first scent of cognac, before drinking.

Tips & Warnings

  • Combine one oz. cognac with two oz. soda water or orange juice.

  • Try different types of cognac, including special cognac made specifically to go with cigars, if you're a cigar-smoker.

  • Warming cognac with a burn-in lighter causes aroma to evaporate.
