How to Reformat an HP Pavilion DV1000

Sometimes it is necessary to reformat your HP Pavilion DV1000 computer to have it work efficiently again. Problems can arise over extended periods of heavy use, such as viruses and driver errors. Many HP Pavilion DV1000 owners are hesitant to reformat their computers because they are not able to locate the installation discs that originally came with the computer, but you do not need the discs to reformat the hard drive.

Instructions

1. Go to the PC Recovery feature of the computer by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "System Recovery," then choosing "PC Recovery."

2. Choose the "PC Recovery" option when given multiple choices on the screen, then press "Next." The computer automatically restarts.

3. Click "OK" when the "Welcome to PC Recovery" screen appears.

4. Click "System Recovery" from the System Recovery panel. A destructive reformat begins, causing all of the saved data to be lost.

5. Restart your computer.
