You can use salute cannons to celebrate a special event.

Salute cannons provide a celebratory boom to mark the beginning or ending of a special event. Though they come in all shapes and sizes, boaters and yacht enthusiasts originally used cannons to announce their arrival or departure from port. Today salute cannons are used in a variety of functions, ranging from the beginning of football games to the commemoration of a marriage. Buying a salute cannon requires a clear understanding of your state's pyrotechnic and firework laws, as well as the ability to identify a legal vendor either online or through a trade show.

Identify the size and strength of the salute cannon you would like to purchase. Models range in size from several inches long to several feet long and fire anything from simple black powder charges to 12-gauge shotgun blanks.

Choose a vendor through which you will purchase your cannon. There currently are hundreds of pyrotechnic and firework vendors across the country that can be located through a basic Internet database query. Several vendors are listed in the Resources below.
