How to Access More Gmail Emoticons
Emoticons are a way of expressing emotions in text-based communication using letters and punctuation marks to symbolize faces. The most common of which is the smiley face, represented by a colon and closed parenthesis. Email and instant message applications now often recognize these emoticons and replace them with actual images. Gmail comes with a handful of default emoticons, in square or round faces. Gmail also has an area full of optional add-ons known as "Labs." Within Gmail's Labs is the option to enable a much larger set of emoticons to use in emails.
