How to Donate Toys to Charity in Georgia

You can donate new or used toys to charity to brighten the lives of underprivileged children.

Georgia charities make it their mission to provide underprivileged children with their own toys. Through your donations of both new and gently used toys, Georgia charities offer underprivileged children the chance to finally own toys they love.

Instructions

1. Locate a Georgia-based charity to donate your toys. National charities such as Toys for Tots, Goodwill and the Salvation Army are well-known charities accepting toy donations at locations all over Georgia. Also check with local charities, such as thrift shops and schools to see if they accept toy donations.

2. Contact your charity to inquire about the types of toys it accepts. Goodwill and the Salvation Army of Georgia accept used toy donations. Toys for Tots only accepts new, unopened toys for its charitable program.

3. Ask your charity about the donation process. Both Goodwill and the Salvation Army have store locations all throughout the state of Georgia where you can drop off your toy donations at any time. Toys for Tots uses local Georgia businesses as drop-off locations, which you can find on the Toys for Tots website at www.toysfortots.org.

4. Take your toys to your charity. If you wish to use your toy donation as a tax deduction on your federal income tax return you can obtain the value of your donated toys by using the Goodwill's Valuation Guide.
