How to Make a Yearly Calendar in Adobe Photoshop
Calendars are more than just useful ways to keep up with what day it is. They also serve as organizers and even decoration. Most people purchase mass-produced calendars that, although they can be interesting or even attractive, are impersonal since they don't really reflect the owner. For this reason, many people prefer to make their own calendars, since this will let them incorporate their own images and design ideas. An excellent program for a project like this is Adobe Photoshop.

1
Load onto your computer any images, such as photos or clip art, that you would like to use for your calendar design. Although you can scan images in, you will get better results by transferring the images from a digital source. Save them all to the same folder.
-
2
Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the dialog that appears, choose 17-by-11 inches for the size of the document and set the resolution to 300dpi. Name the document "Calendar 1" and click "OK."
-
-
3
Drag guidelines from the rulers at the top and side to define a three box by four box grid on the page. These will be where you place each on the months. Leave a bit of extra header space at the top.
-
4
Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog, go to the folder you saved the images to and open the one you want to use for January. Right-click on the layer in the "Layers" panel and choose "Duplicate." In the dialog, make "Calendar 1" the destination and click "OK."
-
5
Go back to the "Calendar 1" document and use the Move tool to position the image in the upper-left section of the grid. You will probably also have to use the Scale function under the "Transform" menu to make it fit.
-
6
Go to the Layers panel and reduce the layer opacity to 30 to 50 percent so the numbers you will add will be easy to read.
-
7
Repeat steps 4 to 6 to bring in the images for the other months. Click on the "New Layer" button at the bottom of the Layers panel.
-
8
Select the Pen tool and use it to draw in a seven box by six box grid over the month of January. Also draw a box around this grid. Then use the Stroke path function in the Paths tab to add line thickness to this grid.
-
9
Right-click the grid layer and choose "Duplicate Layer." Do this 10 more times so you have 12 copies in total. Position one grid in each of the months.
-
10
Select the Type tool. In the options at the top, choose the font you want for the year numeral and type it in at the top. Change the font to something smaller and type in the names of the months and the dates. Save your work for printing.
