How to Turn Off an Onboard Graphics Card

When you install a new graphics card to your computer you will need to turn off, or disable, the onboard graphics card. A lot of motherboards (the main connecting circuit board in your computer) have built-in graphics chipsets and cards; this is so you do not need to install a graphics card to be able to use the computer. If you use your computer for graphic editing or video gaming tasks, an upgraded graphics card will improve performance. Before you install and set up the new graphics card, you must first disable the onboard graphics.
