How to Create a Directory on an iMac

Creating a directory, also known as a folder, on an iMac is necessary to organize files and arrange things on both your Mac OS X desktop and your hard drives. Folders can also contain subfolders, meaning that the level of organization on your iMac is limited only by the number of directories you need to organize documents. Directories can be created to organize different types of files, and you can even create directories to organize different types of applications stored on your Macintosh hard drive.
