How to Replace the Bezel on a Macbook

How to Replace the Bezel on a Macbook thumbnail
A putty knife is one of the tools you can use to remove a MacBook bezel.

The bezel (plastic frame surrounding the LCD screen) on your MacBook laptop is different from many other PC laptops in the sense that there are no screws holding it to the screen. This means you need a special tool to remove a cracked or damaged bezel. No technical knowledge is needed to perform this operation on your MacBook, and it should only take a minute or two of your time.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Power off your MacBook, remove the AC power cable and remove the battery from its port on the bottom of the computer.

    • 2

Insert the tip of your putty or hobby knife in the seam where the bottom corner of the bezel meets the screen.

    • 3

Work your way up the sides of the bezel until it starts to separate from the screen. Continue along the top and sides until the bezel completely comes away. Set it aside.

    • 4

Fit a new bezel over the MacBook and press it down at the sides and corners until it snaps in place.
