Resizing images and photographs is useful if you want to upload or print the file to something that contains a resolution limit on images. Resizing images is different to cropping because it maintains the original image while simply making it larger or smaller. Distortion occurs during image resizing when you attempt to increase the size of an image. Increasing the physical size of an image stretches the pixels of the image, becoming more clear as the size increases. This is also referred to as pixilation. It is impossible to increase the size of an image without causing distortion of some kind, but you can decrease the size of the image without causing distortion.
Step 1
Browse to the photographs or images in your computer that you want to resize.

Double-click the images to load them in Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you have installed additional photograph software this may not load first, so right-click the picture and click "Open With," then select "Windows Live Photo Gallery."
Step 3
Select the files in Windows Live Photo Gallery.
Step 4
Click "File" and then "Resize." Click the "Select a size" drop-down menu and choose a smaller size, then click "Browse" to change the name or location of the files.
Step 5
Click "Resize and Save" to save the resized versions of your images.
