How to Reformat Windows XP on a Dell With No CD

Dell computers rarely come with a full operating system CD, ostensibly leaving you in trouble in the event that you need to reformat your system. Before giving up and taking your Dell PC to a repair shop, perform an automated reformat and reinstall of Windows XP from the system files on your computer's hard drive. This takes around 30 minutes to do.

  Double click "winnt.exe."

  Press "Enter" at the welcome, "F8" at the license terms and "Enter" to reinstall and reformat your XP system.
