How to Connect a Firewire Device to a USB Port
FireWire is a connection port that provides a faster data transfer rate than USB. Although this is not necessary for most computer equipment, it is helpful when using an external hard drive and digital video camera. The downside to equipment that uses FireWire, however, is that not all computers possess a FireWire connection port. Thankfully, it is possible to connect a FireWire device directly to a USB port on the computer.

Plug the FireWire cable into the FireWire connection port on the equipment you want connected to the computer system.

Attach the opposite end of the FireWire cable into the open FireWire port on the adapter.

Plug the USB end of the adapter into one of the USB ports on the computer.

Power on the equipment you have connected to the computer and the system detects the hooked up hardware.
