How to Record Audio in Windows
All Windows operating systems come with a built-in audio recorder. While it does not have advanced features and can save audio files only in the WMA format, it does work well as a sound recorder. The Windows Sound Recorder can be set up to record audio from an external device or from a sound card.

1
Right-click on the speaker icon on the right side of the taskbar. Select "Recording Devices."

Click on the "recording" tab. Right-clicking on a device and selecting "Set default device" will allow you to record from that device. If you want to record from a microphone or external device, select "Line-In/Mic-In" as the default device. If you want to record a sound or video file playing on the computer, select "What U Hear" as the default device. Click "OK" to save these changes.

-
4
