How to Shut Off Windows Defender

Turn off Windows Defender.

Windows Defender is a software developed by Microsoft that protects your computer from malicious software (malware). However, if you have another antivirus program installed on your system, you may experience some compatibility problems. Fix this problem by shutting down Windows Defender.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button.

2. Access "All Programs" and click "Windows Defender." If you still cannot find it, simply type "Windows Defender" into the search bar (only applicable to Windows 7 and Vista).

3. Go to the top of the screen, click "Tool," and select "Options."

4. Under the "Administrator Options" section, uncheck the "Use Windows Defender Option."

5. Restart your computer.
