How to Store Kombucha Tea

Kombucha tea is made from fermented black tea. Though unproven, many believe that Kombucha tea is a cure-all drink that can strengthen the immune system and block cancer-causing free radicals. Kulis Health says Kombucha tea contains antioxidants which help to cleanse and balance the body's electrolytes. Storing the tea will slow down the fermentation process and help preserve it for a longer length of time. The tea will eventually sour, even with storing and preserving. Does this Spark an idea?

Pour your Kombucha tea into an air tight food container. You may use a glass container with a lid or any food grade plastic container. Make sure the container can be covered with a secure lid, such as a screw-on lid or snap-on lid.

Label your tea with the date that it was made. This will help you identify the expiration date, especially if you plan on making more than one batch.

Place your containers in a cool place such as the refrigerator or in a cellar or basement. Keep your Kombucha tea at room temperature for up to two weeks. Store in the refrigerator for five months and store in the freezer for up to one year.
