You don't need to go to the gym to get a good workout.

Going to the gym can be expensive and time-consuming, so many people choose to exercise at home. Making homemade exercise equipment does not have to be difficult. Using everyday household objects, it is possible to make inexpensive, effective home exercise equipment. You can construct a homemade abdominal bench out of simple materials or make dumbbells with empty milk bottles.

  • Tap water or sand
  • Duct tape
  • 2"x11"x5'10" piece of ply wood

Instructions

  1. Make Milk Bottle Dumbells

    • 1

Clean the empty milk bottle with warm water and soap, and let it dry for five minutes.

    • 2

Fill the milk bottle to the top with water or sand. Screw the lid on tightly, and secure it with the duct tape.

    • 3

Make heavier weights by using stones or concrete. However, bear in mind that concrete needs at least 24 hours to solidify.

    Make a Homemade Ab Bench

    • 4

Lay out the electrical piping and plywood. Take the electrical piping and place it at the top of the plywood horizontally.

    • 5

Use the hammer and two nails to secure the piping. Make sure the piping is secure by pulling on it firmly.

    • 6

Lean the plywood against a low stall or a strong sofa seat. Lay a large piece of cloth over the bench before use for cushioning.

    • 7

Make a permanent ab bench by nailing the electrical piping against a fence or stair rail. Use the hammer and nails to attach the bench to the piping. When the bench is secure, it is ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be cautious when it comes to using hammer and nails. Hammer all nails in so they are not sticking out. Cover the ab bench with foam if you want to make it more comfortable.
