How to Put a Desktop Picture on a Mac

How to Put a Desktop Picture on a Mac thumbnail
Desktop pictures can add pizazz to your Mac computer.

If you stare at your computer all day, it helps to have a beautiful or interesting image as your desktop's picture. Mac OS X is preinstalled with many high-resolution images in various categories, such as "Nature," "Animals" or "Abstract." You can also use any of your own images that are stored in your iPhoto library. Changing your Mac's desktop picture frequently can help break up the doldrums and even inspire shock or "awww" from co-workers who pass by your desk.
