How to Watermark Photos in Photoshop
If you are creating a website on which you will be placing a number of graphic images, you will probably want to be able to prevent people from copying and using those images for their own purposes. This is especially important if you have a business site, and the images are the products you are selling. Unfortunately, protecting these images from copyright infringement can be a fairly difficult proposition. While there are codes that you can insert into your HTML coding to prevent right-clicking and copying, they are easily circumvented. A better approach is to use Photoshop to add watermarks to all of your images, making them useless for thieves.

Load the images that you want to add watermarks to onto your computer. Save them all to the same folder.

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog that appears, locate the folder you saved your images to and open one of them.

Select the "Type" tool from the menu and in the options at the top choose the font size, color and style that you want. Drag a text box in the middle of the canvas.

Type in your text. It can be something like "Property of YourName" or just your initials---any type of mark that will be recognizable and consistent on each image.

Go to the "Layers" palette and select the top layer. Reduce the layer "Opacity" to about 30 percent.

Select "File" from the menu and choose "Save for Web or Devices." In the dialog that appears, choose GIF as the file type and click "Save." Name your file, and save it. Repeat this process with all of your other images to create watermarks on each.
