How to Write a Thank You for a Business Promotion
Getting ahead in your career is most likely one of your professional goals if you're thinking of writing a thank you letter to your employer. Thank you letters can be written for many occasions, and if you have recently received a promotion, writing a thoughtful, appreciative letter will reinforce your employer's decision to give you the promotion in the first place. 1
Use an attractive stationery or blank greeting card to write out your letter. If you're concerned about your handwriting, you can type the letter.
-
2
Write your name and address in the top left margin of the thank you letter. Include your phone number and email address, as well. This lets your employer know at a glance who the letter is from. Below your address, include your employer's name and the company address.

-
3
Write out your greeting using your employer's name or the person within the company that gave you the business promotion. Use a proper salutation to remain professional, such as "Dear Mr. Smith". Follow the last name with a colon.
-
4
Express your appreciation for the promotion in the first one or two paragraphs of the thank you letter. Mention the job you had before and what you were promoted to, as well as the key qualifications you possess that got you the promotion. Let your employer know that you're confident in your ability to serve the company and succeed in your new role.
-
5
Thank your employer once again in the last paragraph and reiterate your enthusiasm and confidence in taking on your new role in the company.
-
6
End the letter with a professional closing, such as "Sincerely" or "Best Regards". Be sure to sign your name at the end of the letter even if you decide to type it out.
