How to Make a PSI Wheel Cutout

How to Make a PSI Wheel Cutout thumbnail
A psi "wheel," despite its name, almost resembles a suspended or floating pyramid.

PSI wheels, also written as "psi wheels," are mechanical devices purported to allow beginning students of telekinesis to develop their latent abilities. The user attempts to spin the device without touching it and eventually seeks to progress to moving heavier, larger objects with only the power of the will and the mind. For every skeptic debunking telekinesis, there seems to be an enthusiast embracing the idea. Whether you believe in telekinesis or not, making a psi wheel cutout is a straightforward process.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Cork (a ball of clay or a broad-edged rubber eraser will do)
  • Large sewing needle

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of paper in front of you on a flat surface, such as a table.

    • 2

Use a ruler and a pencil to measure and mark a square on the paper measuring 4 inches on all sides.

    • 3

Cut out the square from the paper. It should roughly be about the same size as a small sheet of adhesive memo notepaper. Set the remaining paper aside.

    • 4

Hold the paper in your hands so that it looks diamond-shaped. Fold the top corner down to touch the corner below it, so that you have a triangle. Open the paper and rotate the paper 1/4 turn, either left or right and fold the top point down to the bottom again.

    • 5

Make sure that the folded paper in your hands looks like a downward pointing triangle. Take the pointed corner on the left and fold it down until it touches the left side of the bottom point. Repeat this action with the point on the right. The paper should now look like a much smaller diamond.

    • 6

Open the paper completely again. The creases that you made should form eight smaller triangles. Pinch inward the four creases between the four corners of the paper to accentuate the center peak. You should now have what looks to be a pyramid shape with a midline convex crease on each of its four sides.

    • 7

Put the material to be used as the base of the psi wheel on the table in front of you. This can be a cork, a ball of clay or an eraser. Carefully push the pointed tip of a large needle into the center of this object until the needle stands upright on its own.

    • 8

Balance the paper cutout evenly on the upright tip of the needle and wait for any movement to cease before attempting to use the psi wheel.
