You can connect satellite service to a TV.

Hooking up satellite TV service and a DVD player to a television gives you the option of enjoying subscription and free programming or multimedia discs by switching between the two components with the TV's remote control. Almost all TV sets are equipped with at least two and often many more input jacks for connecting audio-video components. The satellite receiver hooks up to one set of inputs on the TV and the DVD player connects to another.

    • 1

Plug in the component video cable's red, green and blue (RGB) connectors from the output jacks on the satellite receiver to the matching component-video jacks on the back of the TV. The color rings on the tip of the jacks match the plugs.

    • 2

Connect the stereo cable from the white and red audio out jacks on the satellite receiver to the audio inputs on the TV next to the video inputs from Step 1.

    • 3

Connect the composite AV cable from the white, red and yellow outputs on the DVD player to the composite inputs on the TV, again matching the jacks to the plug colors.

    • 4

Turn on the satellite receiver, TV and DVD player.

    • 5

Switch from the satellite receiver to the DVD player by activating the "Source" or "Input" button on the TV remote control. Press the button each time to change from one component connected to the TV to another.
