How to Use Words to Create Email Messages With Clickable Links thumbnail
E-mail programs allow users to create links out of a series of words.

Regardless of the software used, composing e-mail messages can include a series or words or clickable links to an internet address. For example, users may wish to create a in-message link to the University of California, Berkeley, such that clicking on the name of the university will send them directly to the school's domain name. The procedure for creating a link out of a word, or several words, is straight forward across most e-mail programs.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an e-mail program or website, such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Windows Mail.

    • 2

Compose a message by clicking "New Message", or "Compose" depending on the program used.

    • 3

Type the recipient's e-mail address and a subject. Type the message in the body of the email.

    • 4

Highlight the word or series of words that should be turned into a link. Click on the small graphic that appears to be a chain link. A pop-up window will appear; type the URL of the desired webpage into the URL part of the window. Click "OK." The word, or words, will automatically turn into a blue-appearing, clickable link.

    • 5

Click "Send" to transmit the message to the intended recipient.
